The combination in and of itself makes me want to break out into a long string of love songs. I truly believe I have discovered a cure for Spring Fever.

Sauvignon Blanc tastes like the climate and weather of the location that it is grown in. California is warm, beautiful, breezy and light. I chose to open a bottle of California. Yes, you read that right. It is not only a wine; it is a representation of the state of California. This bottle of 2009 Hess Collection Sauvignon Blanc Small Block Series is the beginning of my treatment plan for Spring Fever.

I received this wine as a gift. It came to me free for buying another wine. I was told to drink it before 2011. I never take drinking advice from the person that wraps up my bottles at the liquor store, would you? I have received better advice from Gas Station Attendants. I am drinking it now, in 2013.

The consequence of temperature is so easy to taste in the wine. The Northern California Coast has crisp, clean air and this wine is a breath of that.

The consequence of climate is also easy to detect in a fine cigar. During the tobacco growing season, the weather and climate take control of the tobacco quality. Only a perfectionist like Perdomo could develop a cigar that is this smooth from a hot and harsh climate.

I am experiencing true luxury and pleasure with this dreamy combination of a Perdomo Reserve 10th Anniversary Champagne Epicure and this exceptional Hess 2009 Sauvignon Blanc. The smooth creaminess of the Perdomo is so easily complimented by the crisp lemongrass of the Sauvignon Blanc.

I first opened the wine and allowed it to breathe. The cork smelled grassy and clean at the same time.

The first pour in the glass again gave off a lemongrass scent. The smell before tasting, off the top of the glass, was elegant with citrus. The taste on my tongue was wonderful with more crispy grapefruit notes. I lit the cigar and the mix of this wine with this Perdomo Reserve is perfection. I believe it is the cigar that makes the wine even more dedicated to please.

The cigar is made with a triple fermented Connecticut wrapper. The binder is Cuban seed but grown in the climate of Nicaragua. Perdomo has developed the smoothest delight in this cigar. Initially, the taste of the first draw provided me with cedar and then a slight spice. When I had my second taste of the wine, after the first few draws of the cigar, I noticed how enhanced the cigar became because of the wine. Creamy, smooth, and then crisp and fresh. I find this combination so pleasurable.

I have forgotten about the forecast. Spring has arrived and I no longer feel a concern. I was able to experience a 1 1/2 hour vacation simply by pairing this Hess Sauvignon Blanc with this premium Perdomo. I am cured of what winter has done to me.
